We are capping off night three (day two of work days) at MOSAIC the service week camp at First United Methodist Church Long Beach, Mississippi. Our small crew has enjoyed a lot of laughs and new friends from the community gathered here. So far we have had a foot through a ceiling, a 145 pound dog, David Moore figuring out it is not a good idea to sleep anywhere near me, Thomas is going to show us how to do a taser out of a disposable camera, I worked at a ladies home that my work team helped move into her house four years ago, Chris cannot tame the mighty tree stump, there is no oil (yet), sweat is the new cologne, and we are processing a flu metaphor. It has been a great experience so far.
We are here with around 110 other youth from as far away as Ohio and as close as Long Beach itself. The church here is doing a bang up job in supporting the work crews in hospitality and organization. Work teams are comprised of a mix of the group, our mission team is spread out among some 10+ work teams. Our work details have been the gamet of painting, moving, destruction, construction, mudding, mowing, and more. One constant on the work details is that there is sweat, lots of sweat. The one nice change from the heat in Nashville is that we have an ocean breeze that kicks up every once in awhile.
We’ve started loading up photos, check back for more as we have them available.
